Social Policy
One of the twin aims of the CAB service is to exercise a responsible influence on the development of social policies and services, both locally and nationally.
At North Somerset CAB we support this aim in a number of ways:
We hold regular liaison meetings with our local Department for Work and Pensions (Benefits Agency) and Housing Benefit section. Through this work we hope to improve services to clients.
We work with other local agencies on appropriate campaigns, I.e. landlord practices with Shelter; support for victims of domestic violence with NADA (North Somerset Against Domestic Abuse).
The Bureau is active on a county basis, working with other Bureaux in the former Avon area on social policy issues – and represents the area on the West Region Social Policy Co-ordinating Group.
We submit client based evidence to Citizens Advice (our National Organisation) on a regular basis and participate in Citizens Advice led campaigns.
